A new tower will add to the already impressive and iconic skyline of Canary Wharf. This new 20 storey building was part of the original vision of Canary Wharf developed by Olympia & York back in 1988
.
Work on the tower, named 25 Churchill Place, will commence in the autumn and it will provide approximately 500 square feet of office space. Owners of the Canary Wharf group, Songbird Estates have agreed a 25 year lease with the European Medicines Agency, offering the company the bottom nine floors of the tower. The lease will start in January 2015, after Songbird Estates awarded a three year rent holiday on the condition that they fit out the building.
This new construction project will boost the construction industry creating 1,000 new construction jobs. This comes as welcome news for an industry which has struggled to recover from the recession.
Planning permission has been granted for a further five buildings on the Canary Wharf estate.
